When Silvia and Sergio first came to us, they were living in fear. In Venezuela, speaking out against the government meant constant threats, denial of documents, and real danger. As Silvia shared, “Thinking differently makes us vulnerable. Many people have been killed by the government for dissent.”

But with careful preparation and a full legal team behind them, they were able to present a strong case for asylum. At their video hearing, the judge granted protection for the whole family.

Today, Silvia, Sergio, and their daughter Antonella are settling into a new life in the U.S.,  one filled with peace and opportunity.

“She’s thriving here,” Silvia said of her daughter. “We make sure she’s active, learning, and grounded in strong values.”

For those starting the immigration journey, Silvia and Sergio offer this advice:

  • Be humble and stay dedicated.
  • Get legal help early.
  • Follow the law.
  • Stay strong, have faith, and keep going.

“This is a tremendous change,” Silvia said. “Your lives are going to change completely.”
